Isela Robles
My name is Isela, and I was born and raised in California. I am a mother to three wonderful children. My partner is a professional mixed martial arts fighter who currently fights for Bellator MMA. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and caring for my family are both priorities to me.
I became interested in nutrition at a young age and much of my life revolved around sports. However, it wasn’t until my early twenties that I became more involved in nutrition.
Both my partner and I began a vegetarian diet in our early twenties in hopes of pin-pointing a “healthy lifestyle” that would benefit both of us. This led us to being vegetarians for ten years! Regardless of diet, I would manage meal prep for us and keep his nutritional needs in check to prepare him for upcoming fights.
After having my first child I began to notice significant health problems arising. During my first pregnancy, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and would have to check my blood sugar daily. Considering I was eating a diet that was applauded by many of my doctors, I was very confused as to why such a condition would arise. After my first daughter was born I noticed rapid weight gain, but ignored it because I was under the impression that any diet without meat is a healthy diet. It was not until the birth of my second child that the weight gain was worsening.
I became interested in a ketogenic diet and decided to embark on a different journey. It was through keto that I learned the misconceptions about meat consumption, chronic illness, and longevity. Since then, it has been five years since my family and I made the switch from a diet rich in carbohydrates, no meat, heavy on both vegetables and soy to a diet low in carbs, high in fats, and especially high in animal foods. Although my current diet is low carb I am much more animal based. Both my partner and I have been amazed at our health improvements.
A low carb diet that prioritizes animal foods has helped me lower and maintain my weight, increase my energy levels, stabilize hormonal issues, and allow me to sleep more soundly. From my own personal experience with nutrition I understand trial and error and am extremely dedicated to helping you on your journey. I am constantly learning and educating myself on all things nutrition and fitness to keep up with new information being published. I believe in the power of diet and I firmly believe everyone is capable of reaching their goals!
In my free time I enjoy going to the beach and taking my children to Disneyland. My family and I enjoy traveling to National Parks to hike and spend time in the sun. I also enjoy gardening. I have always had a green thumb and I absolutely love growing things. A few of my favorite things to grow are bananas, tomatoes, goji berries, and pumpkins.
Experience:
Isela has an extensive understanding of living a low-carb lifestyle. Much of her knowledge has come from her experience working with athletes who have also adopted a low-carb way of living. She also has a great deal of knowledge and personal experience with carnivore diets.
In addition to her busy life as a mom and coach, Isela is pursuing her degree in nutrition.
