Our program’s 3 components are thoughtfully integrated to ensure your success:

1. Personal, Weekly Sessions (via Zoom)

Coaching sessions are not “lessons” or informational lectures. They’re conversations that help you learn from the things you did last week, clarify your individual goals for the upcoming week, get motivated, and be accountable to yourself.

  • Choose Private or Group Sessions:  The primary difference between the two types of sessions is the level of personalization and flexibility. (Learn more about these options from the video at the top of our pricing page.)
  • Targeting Struggles, Celebrating Successes:  What went well last week? What didn’t? Coaches listen to and answer your questions. They provide the support you need to stay focused and move ahead.
  • Achievable, Weekly Goal Setting:  Our goal-setting framework accommodates individual needs. It’s called “The Big 3” because most action items fall under Your Nutrition, Your Behavior, and/or Your Plateaus. Your coach helps you set goals and you’ll conclude each session with a clear direction for the upcoming week.

  • Weekly “Smart Ideas”:  Your coach will spend a few minutes discussing our Smart Idea of the Week. This isn’t something found in course materials—rather, it’s a recent, fresh perspective that sheds light on a common challenge. Here’s an example:

  • Your Needs:  You may be asking, “Should I choose group sessions or private sessions?” Most of our new clients go with private in the beginning because they want very personalized direction—then, some downgrade to group sessions after a few months. (We’ve made that simple to do, if desired.) With private sessions, you can take discussions any direction you wish. There’s minimal structure—it’s solely your time. Conversely, some people like the dynamics of a small group and interacting with others who are at different points on the journey. In group settings there’s a little more structure, by design. If you’re still unsure, you’re welcome to visit with someone from our team on a short Zoom call.

2. Individualized Nutrition Guidance

Sometimes we’re asked, “Which diet does Insulin IQ promote?” Some expect to hear an answer like “a Mediterranean, paleo, or keto diet,”  for example.

For many reasons, we’re not tied to any specific, mainstream diet that’s subject to broad interpretation (and misinterpretation). Our Insulin-Smart Eating™ Method is based on one thing, and one thing only—how what you eat and drink individually affects your insulin.

We help fine-tune your own nutrition strategy and make nutrition-related behavior adjustments for achieving your individual health goals.

  • The Insulin-Smart Eating™ Method:  Insulin-Smart Eating is our proprietary nutrition method focused on reversing insulin resistance and achieving lifelong insulin control through 1) understanding the science-based truths about nutrition and meal planning, 2) becoming a mindful and intuitive eater, and 3) adjusting as needed for individual success. (If you’d like a deeper dive into the specifics of Insulin-Smart Eating, you can read more by clicking here.)

  • Meal Planning & Shopping:  You’ll be using Diet Doctor’s world-class menu planning and shopping app during your coaching experience. Your DD+ account (included in coaching fee) gives you full access to the app’s personalized meal-planning capabilities.

  • Deliberate “Unlearning”:  Sounds strange, right? Unlearning? Many times people can’t move forward until they’ve shaken off the chains of dogma that have hampered their progress for years. Unlearning is liberating. We help our clients seek nutritional truths.
  • Nutrition-Related Behavior Guidance:  Nutrition is the foundation, but other factors such as improving sleep, reducing stress and increasing physical activity play a role in reversing insulin resistance. We support you in these related objectives and help you become accountable to yourself for long-term lifestyle success.

3. Dynamic, Multi-Faceted Learning

What is “dynamic” learning? We define it as learning that isn’t static. We’re always updating our program based on the things we’re learning, the successes our coached clients are having, and the leading-edge nutrition science constantly emerging from Dr. Bikman’s work. Also, we know that different people learn in different ways.

Proven Science and Expert Answers:  Dr. Bikman is among the world’s foremost metabolic health scientists. His motto, “data, not dogma” results in a refreshing departure from traditional nutrition advice. We seek science-based nutritional truths and then build on them to help people get healthier. We also provide practical answers based on over seven years of personal coaching experience.

  • Helpful Courses:  Insulin IQ clients begin their learning journey with our flagship course, Reversing Insulin Resistance in 90 Days. To give you a glimpse of the type of material in this course, you can take a look at a sample lesson.
  • LIVE Streams:  Each week, we produce LIVE streams that you can view on our website, on Facebook and on YouTube. Streams typically begin “topic-specific” and allow time for related questions from viewers. It’s part of our dynamic platform that people really seem to love. And we love doing it! (We’ve been told that it shows. 😃)
  • “IQ Hangouts”:  A couple of times each week, one or two of our team members will go LIVE and hang out on Zoom with any Premium Member clients who’d like to join the call. It’s an opportunity for us to get some additional face time with our valued clients. Dr. Bikman also hangs out once a week as well. No real agenda—just stimulating conversation. It’s a fun perk for Insulin IQ Premium Members.
  • The Metabolic Classroom:  Our followers include fans who are really into the science. These folks love getting deep into the data with Ben—and distilling those truths to help our clients is what we’re about. As such, Ben delivers a weekly Metabolic Classroom episode that’s also distributed as a podcast. Even if you’re not a science buff, you’ll enjoy these classes. Here’s an example:

  • Diet Doctor Plus Facebook Community:  Your membership includes a Diet Doctor Plus account. You’ll enjoy access to the world’s largest searchable database of low-carb knowledge, and support from their 25,000+ member social media community.
  • Truly Responsive Chat:  Our mantra is, “You’re never alone on this journey.™”  We back it up with genuinely responsive chat. Test us! It’s one of our most-loved features. Currently, we only offer it during business hours, but our goal is 24/7, soon. And if you chat us after hours, we respond immediately the next business morning.

Clarity Brings Peace of Mind

First, understanding the science-based conclusions about insulin’s role in the origins of why we get fat and sick is imperative. Today’s accepted American diet is dangerously high in carbohydrates, which leads to chronic insulin elevation and its harmful consequences. Focus comes through evidence-based changes in what you eat, and don’t eat, including an increase in healthy, natural, fatty foods. Nourishing your body and mind the way they were designed to be nourished, and listening to your body again, affects insulin resistance and its harmful consequences. We make this change easier by showing you how to think and eat differently.

Healing Your Body

Healing insulin resistance begins by becoming fat adapted, then reintroducing long-term, evidence-based nutrition strategies. The natural results from these changes assist your body in healing itself—allowing you to cut back on medications and eventually rid yourself of them. Feel good again.

Freedom Changes Lives

Freedom from counting calories, shame, and unsustainable diets that fail. Freedom to break the fallacious “food pyramid” chains and enjoy delicious, satisfying foods while losing weight without dieting, as a natural benefit of eating right. Freedom to bless the lives of those you love.
